It has been a whirlwind week since the Walk To End Alzheimer’s. And I can’t believe it has only been ONE week; it seems like a month ago!
I wanted to send out the world’s most enormous and sincere THANK YOU to everyone who supported this event, either by donation, time, or even those who chose to honor Mitzi wherever you were that day. I received pictures of people dressing in purple for work last Saturday, taking their purple cup to fill with coffee out and about, even getting purple bands on their braces. Mitzi and Gary’s daughter, who is away in college, sent me a picture from a long bike ride she took as a tribute to her Mom last Saturday. It was truly overwhelming to experience the love and support of everyone coming together in memory of Mitzi for this event.
It absolutely floored me when I looked at the total this week and saw that, not only had we HIT our insane goal of $20,000, but that we even surpassed it by an extra $232!!
The best part, for me, has been seeing what is possible when you put your faith to the test. In no way, shape, or form did I ever believe it was possible to raise this much money in such a relatively short amount of time. But, we put down our goal and made it a declaration to the world that we were going to raise $20,000, even if it seemed impossible. In that same vein, the words at the bottom of our shirts are also a powerful, seemingly impossible declaration.
But I believe, as sure as that number says $20,232, that we will also hit the goal stated on the shirts: to END Alzheimer’s! ????????????
