My passion is helping to move dementia and Alzheimer’s disease out of the shadows where it is easy for it to stay hidden, isolated, and…well, almost forgotten. People living with all forms of dementia and those who love them have important stories to tell that the world needs to hear. We need to keep the disease at the forefront, reminding us all to keep pushing for treatments and a cure, as well as sharing resources and tools for people living with or affected by the condition.
With my background in videography, storytelling, and social media marketing, I am embarking on a journey that I hope will take me through every state in America, as I interview those living with or affected by various forms of dementia, including doctors, researchers, and professionals. My goal is to do this trip over the course of a year, traveling in my Mobile Memory Maker, so that my family can join me. Along the way, I will be connecting with dementia support groups, church ministries, and memory care residences sharing about the journey through dementia, my own experiences with it as a family and professional caregiver, as well as resources and tools for people living with or affected by the condition. Most importantly, I will have the honor of interviewing people willing to share their personal experiences to help raise awareness.
It has been said that one person can make a difference, and everyone should try. This video project was born straight from my heart through a desire to use my skills and experience (read more of my story here) to make whatever difference I can in the fight against Alzheimer’s and dementia.
