Aunt Barbara made a lunch delivery today of a yummy quiche for her sweet niece and her famous chocolate pie that is always a favorite. At one point, Mitzi called her by name, which was awesome to hear! She knows we are all familiar and safe but very, very rarely do we have the pleasure of hearing many names anymore.
Barbara took care of Mitzi when she was very little, and I know it had to be heartbreakingly bittersweet to help feed her lunch. Mitzi barely made it to the last bite as her eyelids lowered to half-mast and her energy gave out, so Barbara was able to get to tuck her in for her afternoon nap. While the moments are often sad or tough to get through, these days are about treasuring the time there is left, no matter what…????
