Today my boys and I had the incredible opportunity to visit the cancer research lab at The Mayo Clinic where I was filming a short video of one of the research doctors there. He even let the boys see how some of the cutting edge research they are doing there to help eradicate cancer works.
We talked to this doctor about losing Mitzi to Alzheimer’s and what it will take to come up with a cure for it. He said funding. Which takes raising awareness. And that means people sharing their experiences to help others know what the realities are of the disease. Which he commended us on doing already.
The reality is that 5.8 MILLION people have Alzheimer’s in this country. And they are not living with Alzheimer’s. They are dying from it.
We are hoping to get to go back to Mayo for a tour with one of the doctors doing research on that front. Medical science fields focused on treating cancer are plentiful and, consequently, tremendous strides are being made constantly. I’m looking forward to the day when the same can be said about Alzheimer’s Disease…????
