Had a fantastic opportunity today to find out more about all that the Alzheimer’s Association is doing to raise awareness and push for more research in the fight to end this disease! Terri is heading up the Walk To End Alzheimer’s here in Jacksonville next month and her passion for finding a cure is infectious! When she asked me to meet at a local restaurant, I immediately smiled, thinking of the time Mitzi and I ate there before taking my boys (and her daughter) bowling a few years ago.
Of course Terri and I had to recreate the picture from 2017. I anticipated that it might hurt my heart a bit when I first got there, but very quickly Terri’s encouraging news about all of the positive things happening on the horizon changed my whole outlook.
One of the greatest things she shared was that the Walk numbers year over year are up from last year and it can definitely be attributed to the generous donations from everyone who has contributed so far. I received some cash contributions today that aren’t entered yet and those push the numbers very close to the $13,000 mark!! Words cannot express my appreciation as well as that of her family.
It was surreal looking at these two pictures together and knowing the way the story has unfolded in the time between them. In the same way that I had no idea how Mitzi’s story would look, I truly don’t know what my world is going to look like from here on out. For now, though, I am grateful for this awesome opportunity to continue Mitzi’s heart for helping others with this disease…????
