Generally, Mitzi gets her hair cut by a wonderful member of her “Dream Team” in her family who is a retired hairdresser. When Mitzi needs her hair done, Melissa has her come to her house and it makes for a very low-stress, comfortable event. For the past 3 weeks, though, Melissa has been dealing with a family health issue and we needed to find an alternative route for Mitzi’s follicles.
In stepped Tory, a sweet friend from church who knows Mitzi and made the haircut experience a stress-free one. Tory even handled Mitzi’s fascination with her “friend in the window” (Mitzi’s own reflection) with expert nonchalantness, patience, and compassion.
We are so very grateful for the small (but mighty) army of understanding family and friends who make everyday life under the siege of Alzheimer’s feel so conquerable!
