When Mitzi was little, a new baby sister came into the picture. Much to her 4.5 year old dismay, that baby sister did not have yellow hair. A few weeks ago, we ran across this picture of Mitzi holding and consoling a tearful Angela (we’re suspecting Angela was distraught about her haircut?!). Mitzi fell in love with the picture, so I framed it for her to keep on her dresser.
Having the unconditional love of her sister has been one of the things Mitzi has become most grateful for on this journey…(even though Angela’s hair is still not yellow). Angela goes to doctor appointments, shares her shoes (since shoe shopping can be a decision-making nightmare), spends quality time with Mitzi, and handles every hard thing about having an older sister living with Alzheimer’s with a grace and genuine kindness that most of us could only dream of, should we find ourselves in a similar situation.
What a gift for Mitzi that she has an Angel(a) heading up her Dream Team…
