Bringing Awareness, Hope & Encouragement To The Fight Against Alzheimer's Disease & Dementia

There are 5,171 books on Amazon specifically about Alzheimer’s Disease. I’ve read a few. I know they recommend staying in routines. They recommend early bedtimes. Some of them recommend minimizing chaos and stimuli. I’m honestly not sure that any of them recommend the kind of days we often have. Like today, for instance. It included a trip with my boys plus our friends Melissa and Queen Margie, to the Memory Care home to visit with the residents. At the end of it, Mitzi went up to the “concierge” and told him, “Thank you for letting us come here. I was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and it just opens up my heart to get to visit with these people.” Then we had a Mexican fiesta lunch full of laughs, followed by a trip to the daycare for kids with special needs where our friend Nancy is painting these amazing murals. Of course the day wouldn’t be complete without ice cream or a dip in the pool with Mitzi being the judge on the jumping contest.

Like we say, Alzheimer’s is what it is, but it will become what you make it. We don’t do stuff by the book around these parts, but we’re OK with that and it just works…❤️
