Bringing Awareness, Hope & Encouragement To The Fight Against Alzheimer's Disease & Dementia

I wrestle a lot with the fact that I want to jam pack our days with experiences that I know Mitzi loves to do because I know time is dwindling and the fact that she might not even remember them in a few months, weeks, or even the next day.

We were walking through a store recently, which we rarely do. It’s hard because I have to stay with her every moment. She often wants to stop and look at everything, and I like to let her do that. But it means it’s a little tough to have a real agenda other than just to browse. So we don’t do it often. But we found ourselves with some time to kill, and since I had smushed my sunglasses during our last girls’ night out with her sister (wild and crazy evening that it obviously was ????), we wandered through a store for a while looking for sunglasses for me and letting Mitzi meander through the aisles.

We happened upon this little sign. I so wish I had bought it because as soon as I saw it, I had a total epiphany in answer to my quandary about whether it’s worth it to work so hard at trying to fill her days with things she will ultimately forget. That realization was one of the greatest A-Ha Alzheimer’s (and life) moments I’ve ever had…????
