I AM SO ECSTATIC!
The Walk To End Alzheimer’s is now less than 2 weeks away and we are slated to have around 50 people participating on the Moving Forward For Mitzi team!
But the best news is this: thanks to some incredibly generous donations, the cost for the shirts has now been covered completely and will be gifted to the participants… this allows any monies collected for the shirts to become a full donation towards the total team goal!!!! Currently, Mitzi’s team is SUPER close to having raised $15,000! ????????????
We were able to use Joe’s Tees, Inc., a local Jacksonville vendor, (we love keeping things local!), since they were able to price match the online shop. They were even able to work it out so the cardinal is the proper color and stands out without it being cost prohibitive!
Listen, while every bit counts in terms of donations, what makes my heart happy is the idea that 50+ people will be taking time out of their day that Saturday to come together to honor Mitzi and help raise awareness so that this disease can begin to be defeated. I remember when we first started the team and donations first started coming in. I remember mentioning to Gary that even though I told Mitzi all about it…that her friends and family were going to be walking for her, I knew it didn’t truly compute. I’m so grateful she’s whole and happy and can watch and know everything from her front row seat in Heaven now. I know so many of the walk participants have other family members and friends who have been impacted by Alzheimer’s, so I’m sure we’ll have a big cheerleading section upstairs rooting for us and appreciating our efforts!
