Every Day Is A Birthday!

Today, Mitzi’s sister started singing Happy Birthday to me and tried to get Mitzi to sing along. Very quickly, it was obvious that by Mitzi’s huge smile that she thought the song was for her. So Mitzi’s kids, her sister, and I all joined in and sang to her and then we decided to round out the celebration and feed her cake for lunch, which she did not protest about!

We had JUST been all talking about what a decrease there has been in expressions and emotions from Mitzi lately. So to see this grin light up her face and stay there for a good long time truly was the best gift for me today! ????

*Edited to note: I thought about this experience all afternoon and evening. And I realized, why can’t it just be Mitzi’s birthday anytime we want it to be? Seeing her spark fire back up, even though it was only for about 10 minutes was such a phenomenal thing. I’m thinking it might just be Mitzi’s birthday again when I’m there on Monday…????
