The Tango

We try to get in a short walk each day. If she doesn’t seem up to it in the mornings, her husband tries to walk with her after her afternoon nap.

Mitzi used to walk for miles and miles…and fast! We go much slower these days especially because her balance and depth perception make just about every step a cautious one. I try to stay focused on what’s a few feet in front of us, as well as what step we’re taking at the moment because every sidewalk crack, stick, or pine cone can quickly become an obstacle.

I always have her hand when we are out now. Actually, she generally has a tight grip on mine, and she has a tendency to hold our hands out in front of us, like they are leading us. Sometimes I really do wonder if the world thinks we are practicing the tango as we walk around town!
